Hillsboro’s longtime city attorney plans to cut back on his caseload but hasn’t decided whether he’ll retire this year.

John Juelson, who’s served as city attorney for 42 years and has been a fixture at Ohnstad Twichell Law Firm since 1987, won’t prepare tax filings for clients this spring for the first time in decades.

However, the 68-year-old lawyer said he’ll continue to handle cases in 2019 as the firm ramps up its staffing at its Hillsboro location with an eye toward his eventual retirement.

Juelson said Wednesday that he has no immediate plans to give up his role as city attorney.
