Anyone who says small towns are boring isn't looking in the right place. Between the community's museums, businesses, festivals and outdoor recreation, there's always something happening in Hillsboro.

The Clubhouse is an indoor golf simulator, practice facility and party rental space featuring a Full Swing golf simulator, putting green, TVs, theater chairs and kitchenette. The facility is located in the heart of downtown Hillsboro.

The fitness center, adjacent to the Hillsboro Events Center at 128 4th St. SE, is open to members 24/7. Reasonable membership fees make the fitness center a great option to get or stay in shape.

Located on the Goose River, the beautiful Goose River Golf Course offers both the recreational and experienced golfer a great round. The 9-hole, par 35 course is open to the public.

Hillsboro Days, typically the third weekend of June, features a 5K/10K walk/run, parade, bean bag tournament, fishing derby, tractor pull and draft horse pull, vendor fair, street dance and kids’ games, among other activities.

The Hillsboro Events Center, or HEC, is the home of the Burros varsity indoor sports teams, and is host to a variety of other school and community events, as well.

The HEC is attached to the Hillsboro Elementary School. For more information, contact the Hillsboro School District.

Hillsboro Regional Airport, located 3 miles south of Hillsboro, is available for public use. The airport is operated by the Hillsboro Airport Authority.

The Hillsboro Sports Complex was a voter-approved $1.5 million project that includes and eight-lane running track that is open to the public. The complex also includes vaulting and throwing areas, updated lighting, expanded seating, and various storage and concessions facilities.

Hillsboro's summer recreation program is a great way to keep kids healthy and active throughout the summer. Programs include T-ball, Little League, Babe Ruth, girls softball and golf lessons.

Hillsboro's Olsen Softball Complex is a three-field softball complex that is home to Hillsboro's summer rec T-ball and Little League teams, as well as the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros and Cass-Traill Blazers softball teams. The complex hosts several tournaments throughout the year.

The Traill County Historical Society maintains the Plummer House Museum at 308 W. Caledonia Ave. and Heritage Park at Sixth Street and Second Avenue Southwest in Hillsboro.

The historical society hosts an old-fashioned ice cream social every Fourth of July on the grounds of the Plummer House, Traill County’s museum. The Historical Society also organizes its Christmas Extravaganza each holiday season featuring a turn-of-the-century-style feast in the Plummer House, which is decked out for the holidays.

The skate park is located next to Hillsboro Elementary School and is the perfect place to try out a kick flip, Ollie or a little grinding. The skate park also has a slide and ramps to test your skills.

Hillsboro’s large outdoor swimming pool in Woodland Park features a kiddie pool, diving board and water slide, with lifeguards on duty during pool hours.

Located at 122 Main St. NW in Hillsboro, Toros Boxing Club is a non-profit group with a gym that includes one of the region's few full-sized boxing rings.

The Traill County Veterans Memorial Wall includes the names of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who are from Traill County or have lived in the county most of their lives. The memorial wall is located in front of the Traill County Courthouse at 114 W. Caledonia Ave.

Hillsboro's Woodland Park is a great place for picnics, family gatherings or special events. The park also includes a variety of outdoor activities.
