The multi-family housing project planned in Hillsboro by Jordahl Custom Homes of Fargo likely won’t break ground until 2019, according to the head of the Traill County Economic Development Commission.

TCEDC Executive Director Melissa Beach told board members Aug. 16 in Hillsboro that delays have pushed back the anticipated start date of the 36-unit rental project until early next spring.

The delays were caused in part by a prolonged land annexation process for the land where the rental units will be built in northwest Hillsboro as well as rezoning requirements tied to the project, Beach said.

“Instead of being able to handle (some of these issues) over four or six weeks, it has stretched out to five months,” she said.
