Hillsboro’s new vet open for business

Scott Walden might operate the world’s best-smelling veterinarian’s office.
The rural Gardner, N.D., man opened Walden Veterinary Service on Monday inside the former Spiral Light Candle factory at 214 1st St. E. in Hillsboro.
After serving as a scented candle warehouse for years, the interior of Walden’s office smells considerably more like potpourri than puppy.
“We’ve actually gotten it toned down quite a bit,” Walden said. “We have an air purifier going so it’s not as strong. I’d go home and you could still smell (the candles) for hours.
“Although it’s better than smelling like you’re walking around with dirty boots.”
