Everyone into the pool: City officials target citizens committee for pool project

Hillsboro city officials want to form a citizens advisory committee to support and map out plans for a new municipal swimming pool to replace the one in Woodland Park.
Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando said the committee would be asked to pinpoint the types of amenities that locals would like in a new pool and determine whether residents support a new city sales tax to finance the project.
“We need feedback from people on what they think is important,” he said. “We want individuals to step forward and lead the charge on developing the actual pool itself.”
Speaking to 25 people at a public pool forum Jan. 23, Sando laid out a number of options for building a new indoor pool connected to the Hillsboro city armory along Highway 81.
