Tyrel and Janelle Thorson didn’t throw themselves a parade to mark their seven-year wedding anniversary.

But the Vergas, Minn., couple packed up their kids and drove 100 miles to Hillsboro to watch one Saturday.

In town on their anniversary weekend, the Thorsons and their daughter, Paisley, 5, and son, Bridger, 3, mixed in with the downtown crowd lining Caledonia Avenue for Saturday morning’s Hillsboro Days parade.

Tyrel and his family weren’t scared off by the threat of rain showers looming on the radar.

“We weren’t really concerned,” he said. “My son is mesmerized by the tractors.”

Nicole Evans of Hillsboro brought her grandson and three nieces to the parade.
