Hillsboro’s top brass gave a bus tour of the city to a number of Gov. Doug Burgum’s political appointees during a Main Street Initiative visit Tuesday.

Led by Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando, the tour highlighted the city’s rebuilt airport runway, new homes in the Prairieview Addition and Total Ag Industries.

The one-hour trip concluded at the Hillsboro Events Center with a public forum featuring Labor Commissioner Michelle Kommer and Kyle Wanner, director of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission.

Sando applauded the chance to show off Hillsboro’s residential and commercial progress Tuesday and questioned officials on how to revitalize the city’s downtown area.

“This is a great opportunity,” Sando said. “We really appreciate having the Main Street Initiative coming out and visiting Hillsboro.”
