Mia Kozojed and the the Hillsboro Running Club are looking to add some more color to this year’s Hillsboro Days celebration.

The club’s annual 5-kilometer race, held June 13 in Woodland Park, will be a “color run,” where participants will be showered with colored powder during the event.

It’s the first time Hillsboro has hosted a color run, which has been a popular draw in nearby communities.

“The route’s the same as last year,” said Kozojed, Hillsboro Running Club president. “It just seemed like the right time to try something different.”

Kozojed said declining participation – especially in the event’s 10-kilometer run, which was discontinued this year – pushed the club to look at changes.
