City leaders in Hillsboro plan to hold a public forum in November or December to try to renew interest in the city’s overlooked Renaissance Zone.

Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando said Monday that a number of property owners in the city haven’t taken advantage of the tax credit program when renovating their downtown properties.

“I’d like to see a forum every six months and somehow publicize the Renaissance Zone more,” Sando told the Hillsboro Economic Development Corp.

“Anything that happens downtown or by the railroad (along Main Street), we want to make sure property owners know about it.”
